Supported Learning courses are delivered with excellent resources, equipment and staff. The courses give you the opportunity to achieve accredited qualifications at an appropriate level for you, in a range of subjects to help build your future.
Course areas include Vocational Options, Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET), GCSE’s, Functional Skills, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and Supported Learning.
Each area provides a unique opportunity to experience learning in an suitable environment and offers qualifications that begin from pre-Entry Level to Level 1, to help you to buill your skill-set ready for employment or further study. You are also able to undertake GCSE’s and Functional Skills.
Our progression routes provide continuing learning and development, whether it’s on to a Level 1 or Level 2 mainstream vocational course, employment, supported employment or independent living.
What will I learn?
You will learn the knowledge and skills needed for you to undertake further study in your chosen area at the College, or to move into employment.
What qualification will I gain?
Depending on the area you choose, you will receive an award from an accredited awarding body, such as a BTEC Edexcel Diploma in Vocational Studies. For explanations of our qualifications, please see our Qualification Explained page.
What progression options will I have?
You can progress on to another Supported Learning course, or a Level 1 to 2 mainstream vocational course. You can also progess into employment, supported employment or independent living.
What costs are involved?
This depends on what course you take, but an example would be £3 per week for cookery ingredients. Full-time Further Education courses are free for students aged 16-18, you may have to pay some or all of your fees if you are aged 19 plus, but please see our Student Finance page for further information.
Entry requirements?
You will have a formal interview and must have the appropriate level of education, which will depend on the course that you choice.
