Live the Dream
College is completely different to school. You get a lot more freedom to make decisions about your own future, which helps you to develop your independence, control your own responsibilities and prepare yourself for the real world.
There’s always plenty going on at North West Kent College that you can get involved with. The College has an active Students’ Union, Student Zones, The Learner Voice, Sports teams that you can join and much more. It’s a great place to learn, but equally great for your social life!
The Students’ Union (SU)
The Students’ Union is run by students and promotes the interests of the student community. Every student becomes part of the Union from the day they join us, to the day they leave us. You can also Follow the North West Kent College Students' Union (NWKCSU) on Twitter and Like them Facebook.
Be Part of it
All students at the College have the opportunity to be part of the Students’ Union Executive Committee. This is a committee of students who are elected by other students to represent them as the student voice. The SU Executive Committee is led by the Student President who will make the final decisions on SU issues and events. The North West Kent College SU is about giving our students the right to have a voice about what they want at their College. For more information or to be part of it, contact Linsey Fry at Dartford or Trevor Fox at Gravesend.
The National Union of Students (NUS)
North West Kent College is affiliated to the National Union of Students (NUS), which means that our Students’ Union will get involved in some national student affairs that affect our students, such as the cost of travel.
Student Discount Cards
Being part of the NUS also means that we can offer our students, NUS Student Discount Cards. NUS cards can be used for discounts in hundreds of high street and online shops. Every student enrolled on a course at the College is entitled to order an NUS Card, which they can do so directly from the NUS website.
Student Zones
We have a Student Zone at both the Dartford and Gravesend campuses. They are for our students to use to relax and have fun with their friends in between lessons. The Student Zones comprise of comfortable seating and pool tables.
Student Handook
Every student will receive a Student Handbook during their induction, this is a guide to all of our support services, facilities and teaching, plus a few extra bits that we think our students will appreciate. You can also download a copy of the Student Handbook.
